Spectator invited to the II edition of the Congress. Member of Spectators Club of Maipú.
Bio
“The Spectator Club is an unprecedented initiative that was created in the Municipality of Maipú to increase citizen interest in cultural participation.
Maipú is a commune located in the city of Santiago, and is the second largest commune in Chile, reaching a territory of 135.5 km2 and more than 600 thousand inhabitants. Despite this, it has only one theater with limited resources. Furthermore, it is a commune that is on the outskirts of the city of Santiago, with little access or transportation limitations to reach the most developed cultural centers of the city.
Through the Spectator Club, interested “maipucinos” register and begin to receive invitations to attend different plays, dance, music, visual arts exhibitions and more, in different cultural spaces in the city of Santiago. From the municipality, free tickets and a bus are managed to transport the group of participants, in which we have a cultural mediator who shares information with the public about the work they will see, the history of the company and even information about interest in the cultural space they will visit. Likewise, upon return from the cultural experience, it promotes participation, opinions and dialogue among them.
The majority of audiences who signed up for this project are people with little access to cultural events, due to the value of the tickets and the distance involved. As an example, we have audiences who attended with us for the first time to see a play and, a few months later, they had already seen all the works of the same company (Teatro Cinema), being able to not only enjoy these works, but also critically analyze different setups and history of the same company”.
