Bio
“The Intersecciones Project is a totally independent initiative that arises from an emerging generation of Bolivian performing artists. Its goal is to offer a detailed look at Bolivian theater, a sphere that until now has not received the attention it deserves. The project seeks to promote intersection between Bolivian performing artists and those from other countries, as well as between local and foreign audiences.
The motivation behind Intersecciones was indignation at the absence of theatrical publications in Bolivia. Bolivian dramaturgy is practically non-existent in publishing houses, with few works produced and little demand from the public. Therefore, one of the objectives of the project is to bring Bolivian dramaturgy to other countries, generating awareness about its existence and quality.
To achieve this, we have developed devices that allow us to carefully observe and appreciate Bolivian dramaturgy both locally and internationally. For two years, we have supported two specific actions: dramaturgical crusades and anthologies of Bolivian authors.
The dramaturgical crusades are collections in fanzine format, at very low cost, that intersect various generations of playwrights. We print them by hand at home and distribute them to Bolivian artists who travel abroad, thus allowing their dissemination among other artists, curators and international audiences. The funds for this production come from local sales of these copies.
Thanks to the Intersecciones Project, Bolivian dramaturgy has spread to numerous countries in the last two years, including Germany, Spain, Mexico, France, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Uruguay and Chile. Currently, we are developing a second collection for the dramaturgical crusades and a new anthology. In addition, we are exploring new forms of expansion of playwriting, such as dramatized readings and innovative experiments between playwriting and author coffee”.
