Bio

An artist, researcher and teacher, she is currently pursuing a PhD at the Department of Theatre Studies at the University of Lisbon. Her project Collection of People reflects her focus on how theatre can be a medium for storytelling and connecting with the community.

Raquel André is a collector, a teacher, a performer, and an artist. She owns a Master in Collectionism in the Performing Arts and is currently a PHD researcher at the Theatre Studies Department in Faculdade de Letras – Lisbon University. Her work tours widely in Europa, North and South America. In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2011–2014) she worked with Bel Garcia, César Augusto, Marco Nanini, Fernando Libonati among others. The 10 years project — “Collection of People” — is an undeniable mark in her trajectory and position in the performing arts. A vast, multidisciplinary, and unrepeatable collection that brings together four projects: “Collection of Lovers”, “Collection of Collectors”, Collection of Artists” and “Collection of Spectators”. All collections focus on André’s interaction with inhabitants of a specific territory. Departing from one-to-one encounters, Raquel André aims to build an archive of the ephemeral with shows, performances, conferences, books, and exhibitions.
