Bio
“The basis of this project, Lire et dire le théâtre en famille(s) is that a family welcomes an artist at home 3 times, 2h each time. During the 1st meeting, the artist presents 3 TYA contemporary plays he or she has chosen knowing the composition of the family (number and age of the children, adults,…). Before the 2nd meeting, the family chooses one play that they will read aloud, directed by the artist in the 2nd meeting. The 2nd meeting resembles a rehearsal. During the 3rd meeting, the family will read aloud the play in front of their guests, friends and neighbors who have been invited to the reading. This is a very intimate and friendly moment to share. A book is offered to each reader to keep as a souvenir of this very special experiment and to encourage them to keep on reading theater texts.
This project can be followed by invitations to the families leaving in the same area to go to the theater together: they can be invited to see TYA contemporary plays, to take part in workshops, to visit a patrimonial theatre, to meet and talk about the show with the artists.
The whole project allows families to discover theater in different positions: they can both participate in the cultural actions and see shows.
This is a complete way of discovering TYA. This is also a way of meeting other families and other people coming from different backgrounds in the metropolis. It allows families to go out of their living area and discover cultural places of interest in the city”.
